We come from the network and application firewall worlds, and have been building internet security products since 1994. The company was founded in 2007 by pioneers in networking and security. Peter Cox was a co-founder of internet security specialist Borderware Technologies, where he helped design the Borderware Firewall Server, one of the industry's first commercial firewall products and the MXtreme product, one of the first application level security gateways for email. Peter was also in charge of the design team and commercialization efforts for SIPassure, a popular first generation SIP application firewall. John Alsop was CEO and co-founder of Borderware. He was a key visionary behind the company's security product strategy, including initiating development of SIPassure.
We have an in-depth understanding of security threats and how to defeat them. We've used this knowledge and experience to create a family of SIP Security products based on superior technology.
Next Generation Products
We've learned from our experience in designing 1st generation SIP security solutions. We've also seen how other companies approached the challenges of SIP connectivity and security. We think we have a better way.
While others built their products from open source components because it was faster, UM Labs invested the time to engineer our own proprietary SIP parsers (SIP stack) because we knew the performance benefits would be worth it. The result? Our controller's performance - and that's everything in QoS - is stunning, It can fully inspect, secure and encrypt all voice or media traffic with a latency of less than 20 millionths of a second.
We know how time consuming network security configuration can be, so we also designed the product to be simple to use for network administrators. Too many products introduce unneeded complexity because of outdated design or cumbersome licensing schemes. Our UM Labs SIP Controllers were designed with a single unifying architecture, with all functionality included in the standard configuration. The result? Every UM Labs SIP Security Controller is easy to install and easy to maintain using a simple web interface.
